Senghor - POURQUOI ETHIOPIQUES ?<\/span><\/h4><\/div><div class=\"td_mod_wrap td-fix-index\"><p>Dans notre monde en crise depuis la deuxi\u00e8me guerre mondiale, il n\u2019y a plus, sauf, dans les universit\u00e9s \u2013 et encore ! -, de revue purement culturelle. ETHIOPIQUES se veut donc une revue politique et une revue culturelle en m\u00eame temps, une revue \u00ab socialiste \u00bb et une revue \u00ab de culture n\u00e9gro-africaine \u00bb. Cette juxtaposition d\u2019une option id\u00e9ologique et d\u2019une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 culturelle vient, \u00e0 son heure, combler une lacune.<\/p>\n<p>En effet, malgr\u00e9 de nombreux efforts, et m\u00e9ritoires, pr\u00e8s de quinze ans apr\u00e8s les ind\u00e9pendances de 1960, il n\u2019existait pas en Afrique noire francophone de publication \u00e0 caract\u00e8re th\u00e9orique o\u00f9 d\u00e9battre de l\u2019ensemble des probl\u00e8mes qui se posent \u00e0 nos Etats, engag\u00e9s dans l\u2019impitoyable bataille du d\u00e9veloppement \u2013 nous ne parlons pas de la seule croissance \u00e9conomique. Faute de doctrine ? Certainement pas. Nombre d\u2019Etats n\u00e9gro-africains ont, depuis 1960 et m\u00eame avant, lanc\u00e9 un mouvement de lib\u00e9ration culturelle ou trac\u00e9 une voie originale vers le Socialisme. Il fallait seulement songer \u00e0 mener, non pas parall\u00e8lement mais en convergence, les d\u00e9veloppements \u00e9conomique et culturel.<\/p>\n<p>Pourquoi le Socialisme ? Parce que, comme le disait Marx dans un manuscrit in\u00e9dit, dont nous avons extrait la phrase en exergue, il faut, d\u2019abord, par la planification \u00e9conomique et la croissance de la production, satisfaire les besoins animaux \u2013 manger, se loger, se v\u00eatir, se soigner \u2013 afin de permettre aux hommes de se livrer \u00e0 leur \u00ab activit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9rique \u00bb, qui est de cr\u00e9er des oeuvres d\u2019art et d\u2019en jouir. Sur la base de la libert\u00e9, de 1\u2019initiative et de l\u2019imagination, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire du socialisme authentique, offrir, aux Africains et aux amis de l\u2019Afrique, une structure pour un dialogue, amorc\u00e9 ailleurs, voil\u00e0 donc la premi\u00e8re justification d\u2019ETHIOPIQUES.<\/p>\n<p>Certains nous feront, peut-\u00eatre, remarquer qu\u2019en choisissant le Socialisme, nous commen\u00e7ons par emprunter \u00e0 une th\u00e9orie extra-africaine. A ceux-l\u00e0, nous r\u00e9pondrons, d\u2019abord, que cette doctrine, sous sa forme d\u2019organisation collective de la production et de la justice sociale, n\u2019\u00e9tait pas \u00e9trang\u00e8re \u00e0 notre continent. II y a aussi que nous refusons de nous enfermer dans un ghetto.<\/p>\n<p>Cependant, il est question d\u2019adapter le Socialisme aux particularit\u00e9s concr\u00e8tes et actuelles de nos pays, ne serait-ce qu\u2019en ce qui concerne la lutte des classes et l\u2019art. A Heinz Starkenburg, qui lui demandait quelle est la place que tiennent la race et l\u2019individu dans la conception de l\u2019histoire de Marx et d\u2019Engels, ce dernier r\u00e9pondait, le 25 Janvier 1894 : \u00ab Nous consid\u00e9rons les conditions \u00e9conomiques comme ce qui conditionne, en derni\u00e8re instance, le d\u00e9veloppement historique. Or la race est elle-m\u00eame un facteur \u00e9conomique \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Pourquoi une revue \u00ab de culture n\u00e9gro-africaine \u00bb ? Qu\u2019il nous suffise, aujourd\u2019hui, de r\u00e9pondre par quelques arguments, vitaux et de bons sens.<\/p>\n<p>A ceux, Grands-Blancs et intellectuels n\u00e8gres \u00ab r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9s \u00bb, qui nous demandent de \u00ab d\u00e9passer la N\u00e9gritude \u00bb, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire, au sens du dictionnaire Robert, l\u2019ensemble des caract\u00e8res, des mani\u00e8res de penser, de sentir propres \u00e0 la race noire \u00bb, nous r\u00e9pondrons qu\u2019un z\u00e8bre ne peut se d\u00e9faire de ses z\u00e9brures sans cesser d\u2019exister en tant que z\u00e8bre. Nous n\u2019avons pas le go\u00fbt du suicide collectif. Ni individuel.<\/p>\n<p>Nous avons regard\u00e9 autour de nous, et nous avons vu, depuis deux si\u00e8cles, \u00e0 tous les horizons et sur tous les continents, des hommes et des femmes qui appartenaient \u00e0 la m\u00eame nation, \u00e0 la m\u00eame ethnie, au m\u00eame continent, se lever, se chercher, se retrouver. Nous les avons vus, ainsi rassembles, creuser leur terre, leur histoire, leur litt\u00e9rature, leur art pour d\u00e9couvrir, avec leurs sources, leur identit\u00e9 culturelle, voire biologique. Ce furent, pr\u00e8s de nous, nos fr\u00e8res les Arabes, ailleurs les Japonais, puis les Chinois innombrables. Mais, depuis le XVIIe si\u00e8cle, les Europ\u00e9ens du Nord, du Centre et de 1\u2019Est les avaient pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s : les Scandinaves, les Allemands, les Slaves\u2026<\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est le journal Le Monde, journal de gauche s\u2019il en rut, qui, parlant du succ\u00e8s d\u2019Arafat \u00e0 l\u2019ONU, commen\u00e7ait son \u00e9ditorial du 15 Novembre par ces mots : \u00ab L\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement montre \u00e0 quel point les diff\u00e9rends tenant \u00e0 la race, aux nationalit\u00e9s et aux religions transcendent, en quelque sorte, les querelles politiques \u00bb. Et nous voyons les id\u00e9ologies politiques elles-m\u00eames \u2013 qu\u2019est-ce que cent ans dans 1\u2019Histoire ? \u2013 rendre hommage aux id\u00e9ologies plus anciennes de la nation et de l\u2019ethnie Et c\u2019est maintenant aux partis de gauche, voire d\u2019extr\u00eame gauche, en Europe, de faire de profession de patriotisme : de proclamer leur attachement aux valeurs nationales.<\/p>\n<p>Encore une fois, il n\u2019est pas question que la revue ETHIOPIQUES s\u2019enferme dans un ghetto, rut-il de la Civilisation noire, ni dans les limites du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, o\u00f9 elle a son si\u00e8ge. Sa r\u00e9daction r\u00e9unit, fraternellement, des Noirs et des Blancs.
